01 · The challenge

What was broken, what was at stake

The existing WFPK app had served its purpose but couldn't carry the station into richer engagement — listeners wanted to keep favourite songs, go back to the Live Lunch archive, and connect the community. The redesign had to do all this without slowing the primary "tap to stream" action.

02 · The approach

How we thought about it

Keep the live stream at the top; add depth below. Social login via Twitter or Facebook (the station's existing audience platforms) kept sign-up frictionless. Favourites synced via the social identity so listeners never lost a song when switching devices.

03 · What we built

The actual solution

A redesigned mobile app with live streaming prominent, cross-device favourites via social login, an archive of Live Lunch recordings, an #WFPK Instagram feed, and an events calendar with native calendar integration.

04 · The results

What shipped, what changed

WFPK's listeners got a deeper app that rewarded time spent, not just a stream switch. Favourites, archive and Instagram extended engagement beyond the live feed.
