01 · The challenge
What was broken, what was at stake
WJIE wanted to extend its studio reach beyond radio dials — into phones
that listeners already carried. A typical "radio app" is just a stream
button; WJIE wanted something that also nurtured supporter relationships:
events, tickets and pledges.
02 · The approach
How we thought about it
We designed around three listener moments: commuting (quick tune-in),
planning (events calendar, add to phone calendar, buy tickets), and
supporting (pledge flow). Each moment got its own tab, nothing hidden
more than one level deep.
03 · What we built
The actual solution
A branded mobile app with live-stream at the top, a favourites list synced
across devices via account login, an events calendar with native phone
calendar integration, ticket purchase, and a pledge/donation flow.
04 · The results
What shipped, what changed
Listeners could now carry WJIE with them, save favourite songs, attend
events, and support the station — all from a single app.
